On January 12, 2010 a catastrophic 7.0 magnitude earthquake – and several very strong aftershocks - struck Haiti. The earthquake caused major damage to the nation's capital Port-au-Prince & many neighboring towns. The death toll is estimated at over 50,000 & expected to reach 100,000.
